Today in History - Bombs Away!

Another one for your bizarro history scrapbook. In a war full of hare-brained schemes, the idea of breaking Japanese morale by dropping the ashes of their slain youth on their heads takes the cracker. Credit where it's due though for a chivalrous gesture, making up for the later decision to roast their civilians by the hundred thousand.

And there's another intriguing reflection on today's politics -

in spite of the fact that Australia recognises herself as the 49th state of America... Kawai told Japanese newspapers [in 1942].
